Assin state college was established in October 2006 as a private co-educational institution through the initiative and efforts of the Chiefs, Elders and some prominent opinion leaders of Assin Bereku who gave the name “Assin State College” to the school. The first batch of students reported to the school on Friday, October 13, 2006. Regular classes started on Monday, October 16, 2006 in three programmes – General Arts, Business and Agricultural Science. The inauguration of the school was done by officers from the Assin Fosu District Education Office and GNAT officers on Tuesday, October 17, 2006. Three years after its establishment, Assin State College was absorbed into the public education system on October 5, 2009 and run programmes such as Science, Business, General Arts, Agricultural Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts.
